I met Dave Gahan! OMG!

OMG! OMG!! OMG!!!! I met DAVE GAHAN FROM DEPECHE MODE IN NEW YORK!!!!! Yes you read correctly!! I met Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode in New York, specifically at Joe's Pizza in Greenwich Village at 3:20pm ET.

The meeting was meant to be like how my friends and I see it.  I was in New York vacationing for five days with three other friends.  It was a late start for us on Friday, 4/5/2013. We decided we were going to Rocco's in Greenwich Village for some coffee and pastries.  I guess we were that hungry that my friend told us to make a left turn as we exited the subway station, well long story short we made the wrong turn and were walking in circles for a while...LoL

Some of us were teasing Monica that we wanted pizza because we were starving since we were lost because of her...LoL  We passed by this pizza chain called $1 pizza but kept on walking. Then Jesse decides to wander off to Urban Outfitters so we end up at Washington Square Park.  Then we regroup and kept on walking. Again we bump into another $1 Pizza location and Monica insists we grab a slice and I say no lets keep on walking.  So we kept on walking. As we cross a couple of streets Jesse and Monica spot Joe's Pizza and suggest we grab a slice from there. So we all a agree.  We order and try to figure out where to "sit" and we were playing musical chairs.  As we finally settle, I scan the room, as I usually do, and spot this man sitting on a stool facing the window overlooking the street. I ask Jesse, Hey is that Dave Gahan because it kinda looks like him.  Jesse looks over and "yes it IS DAVE GAHAN!"  In my mind, I am shouting, OMG OMG, I can't believe its Dave Gahan. Depeche Mode. OMG!! I need to do something or I will regret this for the rest of my life!!

So I decided to go up to him, while he is eating a slice of pizza. I put my arm on his shoulder and said, I love you Man!!  You are awesome. I have loved your music since I was a teen." He smiled and said, Thank you!!  He asked me if we were from NY and we said, No from L.A. He side Nice, thank you. All the while, Jesse goes up to him as well from the front and says something to the effect, Dave Gahan, I saw you at the Rose Bowl.  Dave grinned.

We proceeded to leave him alone so he can finish eating his pizza. As he was leaving he said BYE to us!! So I went for it!! I asked him if we could take pictures with him and he graciously agreed. He told us to go outside with him. I think we left our stuff behind because we were all so giddy...LOL

We took many pictures with him. Jesse was having a conversation about the shows he went to back in the 80's (I think). And Dave told us that when "you are in New York you gotta come to Joe's for pizza."  Then Monica proceeded to tell Dave that we didn't want to create a mob scene and thereby waited to ask permission for picture taking. He said, "don't worry no one cares in New York."  And you know that if this were happening in L.A. there would definitely be a mob scene for sure!! OMG!!! OMG!!  This the biggest difference between L.A. and N.Y. fans; we L.A. fans are hard core!! Come on now!!  We all know, Depeche Mode's breakthrough show in the states was at the Rose Bowl (which is about 10 min away from L.A.).

At the end we thanked him and he left and he disappeared into the busy streets of New York.  AAAAAAAHHHHH!!! I will forever remember this moment and will be happy that I went up to him and talked to him.  No Regrets!!

p.s. I will also attach a picture of my friend Jesse and Dave as well (the 2nd pic below) .

You likey? No oh, cheerio darling!

This is a picture from my Holiday 2009 travels; the London Bridge over the Thames. It was a cold December day in London. Lisa and I went over there and just enjoyed beautiful scenery. I love pictures of water and great architecture. It was so breath taking. I like to enjoy stuff like this by not rushing and just closing my eyes and taking in all the sounds & smells of that location; especially water. Water is so relaxing. Love it! And look there is a red double decker bus. Yes, this is London!

Lotsa Stuff

Definitely lotsa stuff is happening. As always, I've been busy, but not as much. I've come to a point where I should slow down, just a bit, that is. Realistically I can't do everything or please every one. I should maybe cut down on my number of friends, but I won't. Everyone is cool in their own and I like that; not all are like me or think like me.

I've cut down on concerts partly because I spent way too much money on them this year and I also need to save up for my UK trip. I've heard everything is much more expensive than in any other European country. If I go, I'll be going with BFF1. Luckily she knows her way around since she lived in London for a while. I'm a little excited now, but as time approaches I'm going to be a nervous wreck and super excited.

Let's see, a lot of my favorite bands are from England or Scotland: Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Franz Ferdinand (from Scotland), Joy Division, New Order, just to name a few. Hmm, I also like David Beckham, who is British, as well as Prince William. I also like Earl Grey tea...LoL. What else??? I like men with British accents...Yowza!

On a different note, I am pretty stoked about my new venture: helping the needy in a very minimalist way. As mentioned in a previous post, I started volunteering for Burrito Project Silverlake and now I joined another chapter (West L.A.). The groups are very different. One consists of a punk rock crowd/hipsters and the other consists of former college party animals (I really identify with this crowd because they remind me of my hey days). I like both crowds because they all share the same interest: helping the needy.

I am going to stick to both for as long as I can. I'm glad I stumbled on this thanks to social networking (FaceBook to be specific). I also started volunteering at the L.A. Regional Food Bank and will continue doing that because the need is great. I have been thinking of starting my own charity and started to look into it. I've been wanting to start a project for quite some time. I started talking to some people these last couple of days about my idea and started to do some research. I still want to do event planning, but I'm putting that in the back burner. We'll see what happens...definitely lotsa stuff going on.

My dream team & my dream vacation...

So plinky.com asks: You've just won a dream vacation for four. Who are your three companions? Easy: BFF1, BFF2, and my sista. All three are like me; we like to travel and we all like a good adventure anytime. And probably the dream vacation would take place in Europe because we all love Europe and can't get enough of it. *sigh* So here is why these three individuals would be part of my dream team. Awesome!

BFF1
Because she is BFF1 and she is great! I like that most of the time she is willing to do stuff and has an open mind. As a matter of fact, Lisa & I have taken lots of trips together; Chicago, WA, Sac-town, etc.

BFF2
BFF2 is great as well. She likes spontaneous stuff and is constantly on the go, like me. Eileen and I have gone to a lot of music shows and it would be great to go on a trip with her.

My sista
Liz always willing to go anywhere anytime. She loves trips; that is why she's a flight attendant. She will tag along anytime. She, like BFF2 is always on the go. It helps that she is open minded like Lisa.

Still really busy...sheesh!

(This painting is a Warhol rendition (Hammer & Sickle series, 1976) and is from an exhibition called Allegedly: The Hugh Brown Chainsaw Collection; it was on display at the Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana in June 2009)

Well folks, it's been 6 months since I last posted a personal note. On the last note I had said I was too busy to post anything. Well the same still holds true. Since then I went on a mini vacation w/ BFF1 to Northern California. I go up there a lot because I have family there. I pretty much know my way around the Sacramento area. Sactown is great in it's own way and the suburbs are a different story; super boring.

Since I have an annual pass to Disneyland, I've been going a lot with my crew. It's a great place to hang out and spend lots of time at and it's time to go again. LoL I, also have been hanging out a lot with my regular crew, BFF's, a new crew from FaceBook & my groceras. It's great hanging out with different people all time, but time is scarce.

I, also, have been to a lot of shows. I saw No Doubt at the Gibson (at Universal Studios), Tiesto at the Sacramento Convention Center, Duran Duran at the OC Fair, and Depeche Mode at the Hollywood Bowl & at the Honda Center (Anaheim, CA) and went to a free show they put out back in April for the Jimmy Kimmel Show, as well; whew, I think I covered them all.

Next week I'll be going to the Franz Ferdinand show at the Forum followed by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs in September at the Greek. Yes, music is my life. It always has been. I've been into different genres throughout my life, but at the end all music it's great. It's a reflection of who you are and what is going on with your life at that moment. The same holds true for the musicians themselves. They write about what is going on in their lives; new love, break ups, new job, asshole co-workers, death of loved ones, etc. *SIGH*

So, I have lots of pics to post from all the shows and my trip, but it takes a lot of work, effort, and time. And I need more time to sqeeze in everything. There is so much to do, but not enough time. I want to do a lot before I kick the bucket (whenever that'll be). I love life for the most part. It's great that there is a lot to do and enjoy, but time & and money are of essense. *SIGH*

Well gotta roll folks. Must take a short nap, then off grocery shopping for taco night at a friend's house. In the meantime, I'll continue to post funny things and not some not so funny. I do want to point out, that if you get offended by anything I say or put up, well sorry, but that wasn't my intention. My outlook on life is loose and I try to see the best in everything. I don't take anything personal and nothing shocks me (well only a little, but then I get over it).

So, enjoy my sillines and peace out. BTW, leave comments if you like, I fixed the problem. So now anyone can leave comments if they like. xoxo

The Getty Center in L.A.

The Getty Center in L.A., CA is lovely this time of year: I am not much of nature person because I have seasonal allergies. Plants make me sneeze and itch. That is why I don't like to hike, go to parks, or go camping. Instead the closest thing to nature and beauty are the gardens at the Getty Center. The decor is very minimalist (just my style). Not only does one enjoy nature, but you can also enjoy some fabulous art. You get the best of both worlds. An added bonus admission is free, but parking is $10. So if 4 of you go, then each of you will pay $2.50. Where in L.A. can you get that much for $2.50? the Getty, duh!

Depeche Mode DILEMMA

http://depechemode.com/

So Depeche Mode (my favorite band of all time) is releasing a new album (Sounds of the Universe) on April 20, 2009. They have announced their European tour dates, but not any dates in the states. I’m annoyed. I really want to see them. I was planning to vacation in Europe after summer. Problem is that their European tour ends in the summer--which means that they’ll be touring end of summer and fall. I could see them in Spain, but I didn’t want to pay peak summer air/hotel fares. I have been putting off my European vacation for some time because of issues. I don’t know what to do and not knowing when they will perform in the states makes it worse. I know this is anal of me, but I can’t plan my year. What am I going to do???? I guess all I can do is WAIT.
