Urth Caffe, DTLA; a great hang out!

If you ever been to Urth Caffe in SaMo or WeHo, you know how fabulous it is. The downside to the one in WeHo is that the parking is terrible on Melrose & traffic is kinda bad near there. The SaMo one is great, but sometimes it's a little too far. For a while I've been wanting to find the one in DTLA (Downtown L.A.) and I finally found it last weekend. It's great overall (esp. parking & distance).

I live near DTLA as a matter of fact (15-20 min) and I've been spending lots of time in DTLA lately. I was doing jury duty, Burrito Project Silverlake distribution, walking through Olvera Street, the wholesale district, the Broadway district and driving all around Alameda St. (Chinatown, Homegirl Cafe, Union Station, Little Tokyo, 4th Street & L.A. Regional Food Bank).

(Turkey burger, vegan chocolate cake, vanilla honey latte & and iced vanilla drink 10/3/09)

Anyway, Urth is known for their fabulous organic coffees and teas. They also offer a delicious cafe style menu (food, salads, desserts, etc) along with free Wi-Fi. The setting lends itself as a place to be and to be seen at. It has a really nice outside dining patio area with umbrellas & heat lamps. A lot of artsy locals and Hollywood types (and wannabes) go there. Urth DTLA is nestled in the Arts District area of DTLA on Hewitt between Alameda, 4th, 5th, and Palmetto Streets.

Support KCRW 89.9 FM!

It's that time again, KCRW is asking listeners to support the station by calling in (or online) your pledge. KCRW is located at the basement of one of the buildings at Santa Monica College. Yours truly will be answering phones on Friday, February 6th from noon to 5ish. I love volunteering there. Everyone is awesome (Ruth Seymour, the hosts, the captains, the volunteers, and all others involved). Watch the above video(s). A camera was installed and is on all day during the drive and anyone can post a message.
I recommend that you all pledge over the phone or online
(http://subscribe.kcrw.com/subscribe.php) and to volunteer now or at other future drives. Pledge drives happen twice a year (February and August) Side note: volunteers get fed very well. Different restaurants are constantly delivering food all day.
